Rusiñol
Villa in the hills of Premia de Dalt, overlooking the surrounding hills and pinewoods, with views of Barcelona. The house consists of two parts: one being the main house integrated into the mountain slope, divided by a driveway beneath the first-floor terrace, and the other being the swimming pool area with a small studio.
The house is designed to offer different atmospheres in each zone and floor. Approaching from the street and taking the lower driveway, one reaches the entrance with a double wooden pivoting door that leads to the heart of the house — the spine — a grand spiral staircase connecting all floors.
At the open center of that spiral staircase, a two-story-high palm tree welcomes you and draws your gaze upward. As you ascend the stairs, each turn offers a unique perspective of the interior and its surroundings.
On the first floor, the hallway meanders, sparking curiosity to discover what lies at its end. The contrast between daylight and the darker hallway creates a constantly shifting play of light and shadow. The connection between inside and outside is reinforced by a natural stone wall that extends from the interior to the exterior.
The sense of interior-exterior continuity is further enhanced by sliding doors that open completely to the outer terrace, where the infinity pool blends seamlessly with the landscape.
On the upper floor, at the crown of the palm tree, various elements capture your attention as you experience the house as a unified whole. The open floor plan reveals the roof structures with their distinctive beams and skylights.
Daylight inlets integrated into the roof connect you to the sky, while the large sliding windows merge the interior with the views. The rear of the house provides shelter and security, creating a sense of comfort and protection — a true feeling of home.
