Complete refurbishment of a chalet in Premia de Dalt. The client wished to preserve the original character of the house while modernizing the distribution and aesthetics, including shapes, finishes, and materials. Additionally, the structure had to be reinforced due to the presence of aluminosis.

The particularity of this house was that the upper floor was directly situated below the inclined roof, which resulted in only the middle zone of the spaces offering sufficient height to walk and stand.

After studying the plans, spaces, and preferences with the client, we decided to open up a part of the upper floor by removing a section of the floor, thus creating a mezzanine. Combined with the introduction of a substantially larger window in the dining area, this creates a feeling of open space that also makes the areas of the house more connected as a whole.

As all the beams had to be examined for structural reinforcement, we discovered the beautiful old ceramic vaults and restored them — in some spaces keeping the original brick color, and in others painting them white so that only the texture and form stand out.

Cada espacio fue examinado y se le dio su propio carácter, mientras encajaba en el concepto de diseño general. El resultado es que la casa es un hogar moderno pero acogedor en el que se combinan lo antiguo y lo nuevo, mientras que la esencia de la arquitectura original se mantuvo y se combinó con nuevos materiales y acabados que, juntos, se funden en una sola identidad.
